A SHAMEFUL NEIGHBORD
By day, Wudu kept me "pleasantly" entertained with the unrelenting roar of a jackhammer. But the entertainment—if we can call it that—didn't stop when the sun went down.In fact, he had installed a device at the Marrakesh Barbers shop across the way that projected swirling, psychedelic rings of light. These moving patterns were aimed directly at the ceiling of the room where I, unfortunately, was trying to sleep.During the day, Wudu kept me "pleasantly" entertained with the sound of a jackhammer, but the "entertainment"—if we can call it that—extended well into the night. He had installed a device at the Marrakesh Barbers shop across the street that projected moving, psychedelic light circles onto the ceiling of the room where I, unfortunately, had to sleep. These circles would then move downward, along the street. Drivers passing by would suddenly see these lights in front of them and slam on their brakes.I eventually went to the barbers to ask them to point that light beam elsewhere. Unfortunately, as I was heading back home, I ran into Wudu. He attacked me, hurling every insult in the book and telling me I should never have dared to make such a request to his Moroccan friends!
